Time for our monthly meeting of the Insecure Writer's Support Group! Hosted as ever by Alex J. Cavanaugh, the aim of the group is to offer a safe space where writers can share doubts and insecurities without fear of being judged. This month's co-hosts are Jennifer Lane, L Diane Wolfe, Jenni Enzor and Natalie Aguirre.
This month's optional IWSG question looks like a fun one: What fantasy character would you like to fight, go on a quest with, or have a beer/glass of wine with?
I won't go on at length with this one, or this will turn into another Pratchett love fest following last month. But there are a plethora of choices to be had from his canon. Overall, I'd say Captain Carrot would be a solid and stand-up guy to go on a quest or have a drink with. I wouldn't fight him though (described as "two metres tall and bulging with muscles").
With the clocks having gone forward in the UK, things are feeling a lot more springlike, and I'm determined to keep moving on. With my most recently finished book sent to critique partners, I'm getting started on my next project, and this one seems like it might be another genre mashup (a bit of horror mixed with sci-fi I'm thinking). Hopefully, it will be quite different to what I've done before. A limited outline, and we'll see how the rest pans out.
How is spring looking for you (or autumn, for southern hemisphere friends)? I have a goal of finishing returning visits sooner than one day before the next meeting this time. As ever, the circle of IWSP participators can be found here.

Jumping back and forth between cold and spring-like here but trees have budded and the early bulbs are popping. There is hope for consistent warm weather soon!
Horror and science fiction make a great mix. Look at the Alien franchise.
It's up and down in the weather here. It's great you're starting a new project while waiting for your critique partners' comments.
Spring is trying to come but winter keeps trying to hang on. The tulip and daffodils have no idea what to do. 😕
Hate setting the clocks forward but I do enjoy our spring weather. Garden time!
I live in Southern California, where perpetual summer weather rules, though we've had blustery days worthy of Winnie the Pooh lately. Sprinkles of rain, too, which we relish.
I subscribe to a substack that sends the 'Shriek of the Week', an exploration of birds in the UK and I highly recommend it! I've learned so much.
Spring in the tropics is like summer, but less humid and more windy. The temps are about the same. We don't set clocks back and forth here. Thank goodness but calling back to States I have to remember which time zone I'm calling.
Pratchett's characters are always a good choice. You're bound to have a great adventure.

I hope you are feeling stronger each day, Nick. Yes, spring will be here in the Northeastern U.S. soon. I hope. All the luck with your writing projects. More power to you!
I wouldn't mind joining you if we could invite Angua along. hehehe

I like your response to this month's question.
Best of luck with your critiques.
My spring is looking pretty green (with pollen), but I appreciate the warm weather.
Carrot would be someone I'd want at my back, for sure. As long as you're on a good quest, of course. He has that sense of honor, after all.
I hope you get wonderful feedback from your CPs, Nick, and congrats on finishing. I'm hoping the US keeps daylight savings time all year-round, but I'm guessing that won't happen.
